Enjoy seasonal ingredients in a combination of French and Nordic cuisines.
Quite simply, we have chosen to focus on a single concept, and will therefore concentrate on a smaller menu selection. We use seasonal ingredients so that there is a feeling of variation during the year. We also undertake to offer the same high quality, regardless of whether you experience our menus as an à la carte guest or visit us as part of a conference or for a party.
Our style is a combination of French and Nordic cuisines, incorporating local ingredients as far as possible, while also featuring some specialities from France, primarily the Brittany region.
Our Head Chef, Kasper Larsen, trained at Skagen Fiskerestaurant and has worked in the Caribbean, Spain and Austria. Together with his team, he aims to create and develop a concept that gives Hornbæk a restaurant that is a destination in itself, whether our guests are with us for a day trip or a full stay with delicacies from arrival to departure. We strive to produce everything in-house, from the afternoon delicacies on our Cake Table to breakfast rolls and jam. Nothing is left to chance.

The restaurant
Our restaurant opens in the evenings from 18:00– 21:00 p.m. — booking is always recommended.
Visit our bar, which has added a whole new dimension
One of the biggest changes we made to the hotel is the conversion of the entrance section. The original entrance faced the Øresund Sound, and the lobby was in our P. S. Krøyer boardroom meeting room. In the 1960s it moved to its existing location, and in 2017 we added a new dimension with a completely new entrance section, expanded to include an Orangery and a terrace where guests can enjoy a croissant and coffee in the morning sunshine.
Next to the lobby and the Orangery is the Pejsestuen, and all three rooms function simultaneously as the hotel's bar and lounge area, which can be used in conjunction with our exclusive Coffee and Cake Table for an aperitif before dinner, or after-dinner coffee and cocktails.
The proprietor, Kasper Heebøll Harboe, has developed an exciting bar/cocktail menu featuring internationally renowned cocktails and drinks , as well as a a few exciting, flavoursome drinks he has come up with himself. Make sure you try our bespoke Bretagne Champagne Cocktail.
The bar is open Thursday to Saturday from 18:00 to midnight, but may be closed on occasion for functions.
Way better than expected, absolutely recommend
Friendly staff, excellent location and views. Newly restored to top notch. Room very nice with ambience, beds excellent. Surprisingly good. We had dinner out but the breakfast was one of the better we've had for years, so recommended (but charging extra for an espresso...). Social areas nice, large terraces, large safe parking, large garden and running/walking trail around the lake accessible direct from the garden. Free bikes and raining gear, even rubber boots to borrow! Short walk to city centre (200m) and harbor/beach (400m).

A very cozy overnight stay with excellent atmosphere and dinner
Spent an evening and night here with some friends. The hotel has been completely restored with excellent taste. The service was excellent from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. the Dinner was excellent as was the matching wine menu. Service friendly and professional. Absolutely worth a stay. The quality-price ratio was good. Certainly to be recommended.

A great place to stay in Hornbaek
This is a really lovely hotel. The rooms are clean and everything feels newly renovated. The location is really nice - on a beautiful lake, just a few minutes walk from the centre of town and the beach. We were able to borrow beach towels from the hotel, which was really handy. The breakfast is similar to other places we stayed in Denmark and seems to vary a bit - it was definitely nicer on our second morning there. Overall, Hotel Bretagne is a great place to stay and I would highly recommend it.

Good experience
Exciting hotel. Small but really nice and charming room. Well-functioning bathroom. A little too impractical with hand soap on tube. Beautiful restaurant overlooking the lake. Fancy and different breakfast buffet. Home-baked bread, very fine decorated yougurt, salmon and small appetizing pans with fried eggs, bacon and sausage.

Cool, comfortable and cosy
My wife and I had a wonderful one night stay with Hotel Bretagne. The old seaside hotel mood in a newly renovated location overlooking Hornbæk lake. Uponnarrival sitting on the terrace with coffee and cake, downtown SPA and a fine dinner with great wines. Rooms cosy and windows towards the lake - nice. Breakfast took our breath away. Perhaps best ever tried. Highly recommendable. On 40 minutes outside Copenhagen in the beautiful spot of Hornbæk overlooking the sea of Oresund.

Fantastic hotel, staff, restaurant - everything!
I have stayed at Hotel Bretagne twice now, and I can not overstate how much of a pleasure it has been. Everything from the rooms, the staff, the food, etc. is just great, and at a very reasonable price as well. Well worth it!

Excellent food and fine rooms
Organized a team event with an overnight stay. Everything is well organized and the staff is very attentive to you needs. Every meal we had was a pleasant surprise...so well prepared and tasty. The rooms were nice and well equipped. Having the lake, the beach and harbor and the plantation so close by made it easy to make outdoor team activities. All in all an excellent trip. I want to go again!

Outstanding
Outstanding experience in a cute and very comfortable hotel. Staff is very friendly and the food of the restaurant, both at diner and breakfast, is worth the trip: delicate, creative and delicious. Definitely a hotel to be recommended with great quality price ratio in a nice area of Denmark.

My best hotel experience ever
Over the past 3 years I have stay in more than 100 hotels worldwide. Hotel Bretagne is the best hotel I ever stay at, so far. The balance between the design of the hotel, the service level, the quality of the food, the wine menu, the design of the room gave an atmosphere, which I never saw before. I meet extremely friendly and serviceminded people, who were well educated and knew how to run a hotel. I would go back anytime I could.

Rock solid north-coast luxury
Surroundings and buildings cried quality in materials, craftsmanship and decorations. Great. Staff were welcoming, friendly and personal. Greater. Meals were tasty, delicious with an edge and made of quality raw material. Greatest.

Very cosy hotel, excellent service and high quality breakfast
I really enjoyed the staying in this hotel. Everything is new renovated and fresh. The stile is "gustaviansk" but anyway modern and homely. The service is very personally and observant. The breakfast buffé is not very much to choose but the quality is very high and something special. I prefer this instead of having a lot of bad quality food.

Terrific hotel
Terrific hotel and about 35 minutes by train from Kronborg Castle that played a key role in the history of northern Europe. This outstanding Renaissance castle combined with this hotel is a great value over treating the castle as a day trip with an expensive Copenhagen hotel.
